Flying Legends
2007 was the 3rd time we visited
Duxford. This year we videotaped a
whole lot of material. This material
has been edited and cut into many
small pieces of video. For 2007 we're
letting these videoes do the talking
and give you some of the atmosphere
from this historic airfield. To save
bandwidth and costs we have put all
the videoes up on youtube. You can
watch them from there. If you have a
good connection more than one video
can be shows at a time.
This year one of the biggest question
marks was the weather. Luckily, after
months of rain and bad weather n
large parts of England, the clouds
cleared and superb weather for flying
showed up just as ordered. Norwegian
contributions are usually to be found
at Flying Legends, and this year P-51
Mustang Old Crow from Scandinavian
Historic Flight and Dakota Norway
were displayed in perfection. The
Dakota was indeed highly polished and
with the sun reflecting on the silver
airframe you cannot help but be
impressed. The aircraft are also in
top notch condition
The Spitfires are flown for a
relatively short amount of time for
their display. The costs are high to
keep themflying and you can tell by
how much time they spend with them in
the air.
This year some modern jet noise was
also to be heard over the airfield
when an American F-15 were invited to
do a display alongside the Airacobra
and a P-51. It's impressive to watch
how well they time it all with music,
flypasts and a commentator who keeps
the pace. Americans knows how to put
on a good patriotic show. Good
entertainment! Some people were not
happy about allowing jet fighters
onto the show but nevertheless it was
impressive to watch.
